Water Contaminant Treatments
Microplastics
Drinking Water Sources of Microplastics
Microplastics are the result of the breakdown of plastic in the environment. They are smaller than 5 mm in size, and the primary human body point of entry for microplastics is through ingestion. This can occur through the consumption of either tap or bottled drinking water. With an estimated intake of 39–52 thousand microplastics per person annually, ingestion is regarded as the primary pathway leading to concerns about their associated health impacts.
Treatment of Microplastics
Microplastics can be filtered from drinking water using NSF Standard 401 water systems and filters, certified to remove microplastics.
